ABOUT US
Project Gateway UK Trust (Previously known as PCF Gateway Trust) is a registered charity (No.1117955) supporting the work of Project Gateway, a Christian, non profit organisation serving the poor in and around the city of Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Formed in 2006 as a fund raising trust, to date we have been able to send more than £500,000 to help the poorest of the poor.
The trust is administered by a small group of trustees who meet four times a year (currently via MS Teams) to make decisions on funding, review feedback from South Africa and decide on fundraising projects in the UK.
Our current Trustees are Sally Wood (Chair), Trevor Nixon (Treasurer), Andrew 'Reg' Morrish, Roger Maxwell, Reg Witchard, and Esther Zarifi. You can contact the Trustees by clicking here.
Our Trustees:
Sally Wood - a retired Head Teacher, currently living in Wokingham. In 2008 she resigned her post as Head of a special school to move to Pietermaritzburg and volunteer at Project Gateway. Now back in the UK, Sally still works closely with Di Milford, and is the current Chair of the UK Trust.
Trevor Nixon - a retired Engineering Project Manager. He worked for a multi national petrochemical company before moving into the Biopharmaceutical field. He was blessed to travel extensively on overseas assignments. Soon after his retirement he was asked to become a trustee and is currently the Treasurer of Project Gateway UK Trust.
Andrew ‘Reg’ Morrish - lives in Norwich and is married to Julia. He’s been involved with Project Gateway since serving on a work team doing building work at The Old Prison in Pietermaritzburg about 20 years ago, graduating to becoming a Trustee in 2010. He works as a consultant to the insurance industry and serves on the leadership team of his local church.'
Roger Maxwell - a semi retired painter and decorator who first visited Project Gateway in 2002 with a group of friends who became affectionately known as ‘The Devon Boys’. He has visited multiple times since, with the same group of people and others, undertaking large renovation tasks. Has been a trustee since the inception of the Trust.
Reg Witchard - retired company director of a haulage firm, and known to many of you as founder and first Chair of the UK Trust. In 2006, Reg and his wife took on the challenge of setting up a UK-based charitable trust to make it easier for donors there to support the work of Project Gateway. Reg was appointed as Chair for the Trust and recruited a team of Trustees to assist in its administration.
Esther Zarifi - a former teacher from Middlesborough, now working for AQA. Esther first visited Project Gateway in 2004 as part of a student team from a Newcastle church. She then returned with a team of students in 2009 (and again with four more sixth form teams!).
